THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
Episode 2 follows right after the car chase.
With Wang Ye and his family's servant running from 3 masked assailants.
Now this entire eight minute sequence is probably the best animated that I have seen.

The scene starts with Wang Ye splitting up with the servant, telling him to rendevous at the park. The 3 chase Wang Ye in a free running sequence from the alleys of the old district to the roof tops before it ends in the park.

This entire sequence is without a doubt one of the best out there with each character leaping over different obstacles while engaging Wang Ye with attacks.

A short joke and introduction the 4 fight. Engaging in Kung fu hand to hand combat. with the smoothest animation of Tai Chi in action. (This was apparently animated by the same guy who helped animate a bunch of the best naruto fight scenes, Definitely paying more attention to this Chinese dude from now on.)

After fending their martial art assault, they enter the outsider abilities fight scene. With Wang Ye defending with his taichi against fireballs, teleportation and chi fists.

It ends with Xing calling Wang Ye, before Wang Ye finishes the fight and meets up with Xing at a restaurant where the 3 and the servant are eating, revealing that they are Xings family.

Overall a very strong episode, with Zhang Chulan and Fang Bao Bao making a last minute entrance.

I see alot of comments like how the directors need to do a better job. But I think alot of people forget this is a show made for Chinese Audiences, with a later release with a Japanese dub for Japanese audiences. its not made to cater to others.

I didn't know this series before and i came straight for this episode and...

totally worth it!

The 10 first minutes of the episode with intense uninterrupted well-directed and animated ACTION.

Running and chasing, best parkour of animation, fight and spells. Wtf, how it could be more complete?

Sadly the rest of episode is that chinese uninspired animation:

- dull voice acting (and chinese language is not a problem to me, i enjoy it IF the va is good);

- cringe comedy out of tone;

- events, scenes and dialogues seems kinda random and pointless.

I wish for one day that more chinese directors could give a bit more of care to turn their shows more palatable, and not "i'm getting paid for an action animation? okay, there is it, no more, no less"

I wanted to see this for the reason most people here probably did, it is jarring on how this episode looks man, it goes from the amazing action scenes you see on naruto (for obvious reasons) to a very dull animated thing for the rest of it, you can't pull something like that off to just go back to something that looks so and amateur. Idk if the animation studio that did that first sequences where the same as the one that did the rest of the episode, if it is, its a problem of the animation direction.

Reminds me of how Steven Universe has this same problem, that one ep got directed by an animation director from Kill la Kill and cus of that the episode is the episode with the most consistent looking characters (no swapping sizes or missing fingers) and also the best animation of what I watched of that show till i got bored, you get this sour taste that the ones doing their job wrong are the animation directors not the animators themselves.
